Canadian singer Bryan Adams blames ‘bat eating,’ ‘virus making greedy bastards’ in COVID-19 rant

An outstanding Chinese-Canadian activist says she is appalled, disappointed, and angry regarding an Instagram post from Canadian singer Bryan Adams’ official account that she and others say is racist.

The post contains a snipping of Adams singing his hit song Cuts sort of a Knife. Associate related to description expresses his frustration that COVID-19-related restrictions have led to the suspending of 3 shows at the Royal prince consort Hall in London, England.

“Tonight was purported to be the start of a residency of gigs at the @royalalberthall, however thanks to some f–king bat eating, wet market animal marketing, virus creating greedy bastards, the total world is currently on hold,” the post read.

“My message to them apart from ‘thanks a f**king lot’ is going vegetarian.”

Amy Go, president of the Chinese Canadian National Council for Social Justice referred to as the most racist and believes it may tend to hate Chinese-Canadians.

“People look up to public figures. he is seen as an associate idol by several,” Go said. “It justifies this racist hate against Chinese.… this is often therefore trigger-happy and with great care, so, so, so racist.”

As the coronavirus pandemic has unfolded, several have raised considerations regarding growing anti-Asian and anti-Chinese racism in Canada, with reports of anti-Asian hate crimes on the increase in Vancouver, as well as physical and verbal attacks.

No response from Adams’ camp

CBC News contacted Adams’ representatives for a response however failed to receive an on the spot reply.

As of 10 p.m. PT, his Instagram video had received over one,500 replies.

Many of the comments expressed love for Adams’ music and dismay he wouldn’t be road, however, dozens of others defend Adams of racism.

“Wow. What racist garbage returning from somebody I revered,” wrote Instagram user @globalcanuck.

“Lol, inspect this casual racism,” wrote @got_thall.

“I thought you would be an improved person than this,” wrote @annaliserae80. “The starting of your message is a few seriously racist garbage and everybody here accepting with you is repellent.”
